Getting Started

The web app runs in your browser at trackbirthdays.netlify.app and can also be installed as a PWA from your browser's install prompt. The APK is the Android app you sideload directly. Sign in with the same account on either and everything stays in sync.

Open the app, choose Sign Up, and enter an email address and password. You'll then pick a username and be taken through a short onboarding flow before landing on your birthday list.

Yes. All birthdays, groups, and profile data are stored in Supabase. Sign in with the same account on any device and everything is up to date.

In Android settings, allow installs from unknown sources for your browser or file manager. Go to trackbirthdaysland.netlify.app and tap the "Download APK" button, then open the downloaded file to install. You may need to tap "Install anyway" if Android warns about the unknown source.

Managing Birthdays

Tap the + button at the bottom of the screen. Enter the name and date, then optionally assign a group, add notes, or upload a photo.

Yes. The year is optional. If you leave it blank the app still tracks the birthday and counts down to it every year, it just won't show an age.

Yes. Open the birthday detail, tap the avatar circle or the small camera icon next to it, and choose a photo from your device. It syncs across all your devices.

Create color-coded groups (like Family, Work, Friends) from the Groups tab. Assign any birthday to a group when adding or editing it. On the Birthdays tab you can filter the list to show only one group at a time.

The Calendar tab shows a rolling 12-month view. Dates with birthdays have small colored dots. Tap any date to see who has a birthday that day, or to add a new one directly from that date.

Open the birthday detail and tap "Mark as Wished." The button turns lime green and a small badge appears on the card. The status resets automatically after each birthday so you start fresh every year.

Archiving moves a birthday out of your main list into a separate archived section at the bottom. Archived birthdays are hidden from the calendar and won't send notifications. You can unarchive at any time from the birthday detail.

Notifications & Reminders

Reminders are sent 7 days before, 1 day before, and on the birthday itself, at whatever notification time you set in your Profile.

Go to Profile and tap "Enable" next to Push Notifications. Your browser or device will ask for permission: allow it. You can also set your preferred notification time there.

Yes. Open that birthday's detail view and toggle off the notification switch. This only affects that one person, your other reminders are unaffected.

Check four things: browser or device notification permissions are allowed, the Enable toggle in Profile is on, the individual birthday's notification toggle is on, and on Android that battery optimization isn't stopping background processes for the app.

AI Gift Suggestions

Tap "Gift Ideas" from the Birthdays header or a birthday detail. Fill in the person's interests, dislikes, your relationship to them, and a budget range. Groq AI returns 6 tailored gift ideas with a reason for each.

Only what you type into the gift form: the person's name, interests, dislikes, your relationship to them, and your chosen budget. Nothing from your account or birthday list is sent automatically.

No. Suggestions are generated fresh each time and are not stored. If you leave the page the results are gone.

Data & Privacy

Read our Privacy Policy for the complete breakdown.

Go to Profile and scroll to the Data section. Choose "Export Calendar" for a .ics file that imports into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, and Outlook, or "Export JSON" for a raw backup of all your birthdays and groups.

Go to Profile, Security, Delete Account. You'll be asked to type DELETE to confirm. This permanently removes your account, all birthdays, groups, and photos: there is no way to recover them.

No. Track Birthdays has no ads, no analytics tracking, and never sells your data.

Account & Troubleshooting

On the login screen tap "Forgot password", enter your email, and you'll receive a reset link. You can also trigger this from Profile, Security, Change Password if you're already signed in.

Go to Profile and tap the avatar circle at the top (or the small camera icon next to it). Pick an image from your device and it uploads instantly.

This is intentional. The wished status resets automatically after each birthday passes so you start fresh the next year without clearing it manually.

Go to Profile → Language and pick from English, Spanish, French, German, Danish, Japanese, Korean, or Chinese. The whole app switches instantly with no restart needed.

Try a hard refresh first (Ctrl+Shift+R on desktop). If it persists, clear the app's site data in your browser settings or reinstall the APK. If the issue keeps happening please report it on GitHub Issues.

Open an issue on GitHub Issues with a description of what happened, what you expected, and your device/browser. Screenshots help a lot.
